Return & Exchange Policy

Afrikart Return & Exchange Policy

Thank you for shopping with Afrikart. Because many of our products are handcrafted in small batches by independent creators, we handle returns with care to protect both our customers and our vendors.

By placing an order on Afrikartt.com, you agree to the policy below.


1. Eligibility for Returns

  • You may request a return within 7 days of the delivery date shown on your tracking information.

  • To be eligible, items must be:

    • Unused and in the same condition you received them

    • In the original packaging (tags, labels, accessories, free gifts, etc.)

    • Accompanied by your order number or receipt

If more than 7 days have passed since delivery, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges.

Important: Special rules apply to food, drink, skincare, haircare, and similar products.


2. Items That Cannot Be Returned

For hygiene, safety, and quality reasons, the following items are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded under any circumstance, except when Afrikart sends you the wrong item (see note below):

  • All food and drink items (including coffee, teas, spices, snacks, etc.)

  • All skincare, haircare, and other topical products

  • Ingestible or wellness products that are consumed, applied to the body, or used on skin/hair

  • Earrings

  • Custom or personalized items

  • Items clearly labelled “Final Sale” or “Non-Returnable”

Exception – wrong item shipped:
If you receive the wrong food, drink, skincare, haircare, or similar product, you will be eligible for an exchange only for the correct item.

  • No refunds are issued for these categories, even when the wrong item is shipped.


3. Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Item Received

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect:

  1. Contact us within 7 days of delivery at info@afrikartt.com with:

    • Your order number

    • A brief description of the issue

    • Clear photos of the product, packaging, and shipping label

  2. After reviewing your request, we may:

    • Send a replacement

    • Offer an exchange

    • Provide a refund or store credit (for eligible categories only – see Section 2)

For food, drink, skincare, haircare, and similar items, our remedy is limited to:

  • Exchange for the correct item if the wrong item was shipped.

  • We do not provide refunds for these categories.

Approval of any claim is based on the evidence provided.


4. Exchanges

  • Exchanges are subject to product availability.

  • If the desired item is unavailable, we may:

    • Offer a similar product, or

    • Provide store credit or a refund (for eligible categories only)

In some cases, we may first process your return and then ask you to place a new order for the replacement item.


5. Refunds

For eligible items (excluding the categories listed as final sale in Section 2):

  • Refunds are issued after we receive and inspect your return.

  • Approved refunds will be processed to your original method of payment.

  • Afrikart processing time: 3–5 business days.

  • Your bank or card issuer may require additional time to post the refund.

Shipping fees from the original order are non-refundable, unless the return is due to an Afrikart error.

We may offer store credit instead of a refund in certain situations or for limited collections.


6. Return Shipping Costs

  • If the return is due to a change of mind, incorrect size, or customer error, you are responsible for the cost of return shipping.

  • If the return is due to an Afrikart error (wrong item shipped, major defect on eligible items), we will cover or reimburse reasonable return shipping costs according to our instructions.

If you ship on your own, we recommend using a trackable service and shipping insurance.


7. How to Start a Return or Exchange

To request a return or exchange:

  1. Email info@afrikartt.com with:

    • Subject line: Return/Exchange Request – Order # [your order number]

    • Your full name

    • The product(s) you want to return or exchange

    • The reason for the request

    • Photos (for damaged/defective/wrong items)

  2. Our team will respond with:

    • Eligibility confirmation

    • Return or exchange instructions

    • A return shipping label, if applicable

Please do not ship items back before receiving instructions, as this may delay processing.


8. Order Cancellations

  • Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of placing the order if they have not yet been processed or shipped.

  • Once an order is shipped, it can no longer be cancelled and will instead follow the return policy above (subject to eligibility).


9. Marketplace & Vendor Products

Afrikart works with independent vendors and creators.

  • All returns must be sent to the Afrikart-designated return address, not directly to the vendor, unless we provide different instructions.

  • In some cases, individual vendors may have special return terms that will be shown on the product page or at checkout. Those terms will apply in addition to this policy.
