Jorova Crafts began in 2002 with three determined women from the Nairobi slums Josephine, Rosemary, and Eva whose names formed JOROVA. They came together with one purpose: to break free from the cycle of poverty and build a better future for their families.

They started small, taking on menial jobs like cleaning homes and offices, saving every coin until they could afford a sewing machine. That first machine became the beginning of a powerful journey launching their embroidery work and early creations like tablecloths, sofa covers, and cushion covers. As their skills grew, so did the community around them. Jorova expanded to include more women from Nairobi’s slums and became a primary source of support for artisans and their families.

Today, Jorova Crafts has grown even further, welcoming skilled male artisans as well. Our artisan groups are based in both urban slums and peri-urban rural areas, forming a strong network of talent, resilience, and creativity. Through training opportunities and custom-designed orders, we’ve diversified into a wide range of handcrafted products made from beads, fabric, fibers, and even expertly crafted pieces by our talented metalsmiths.
